Angoorlata Deka Biography 
Angoorlata Deka is an actress turned politician from the state of Assam. She currently serves as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly since 2016, and it’s her first term. She represents Bharatiya Janata Party, and was elected from Batadroba constituency with a majority of 5,885 votes. As a film actress, she joined Assamese cinema in the year 2006. Aami Asomiya was her debut flick, and her last theatre release was Tez in 2015. She has played both traditional and glamorous roles on Assamese screen and has appeared in 7 movies.
Angoorlata Deka hails from Nalbari, Assam. She was born on 31 January 1986. Dance has always been her passion and she wanted to master Kathak. At her young age she was guided by Guru Barnali Mahanta. She was spotted by Assamese director Chakrahar Deka while she was performing in her dance classes and instantly offered her a role for the movie, “Prembhora Sokulu”. The director was surprised by her dancing talents. But she was denied permission by her family. One day Seema Biwas came to her home and talked with her family. She convinced Deka’s parents as well. That’s how she got into films.
When Bharatiya Janata Party made history by dethroning Congress and forming its first ever government in the state of Assam in 2016, Angoorlata Deka too joined legislative assembly for the first time. She is known to be a beautiful actress of Assamese cinema and has appeared in many music videos, and ever since she got elected to state assembly, there have been trolls and opinions in both accepting and opposing her as a politician. She is one of the six female BJP candidates for the assembly elections, and the winner among the two.
