Amitabha Singh Biography

Amitabha Singh is a successful cinematographer, director and film producer associated with Bollywood. He has done camera work for National award winning movies such as Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006) and Chillar Party (2011). He has also directed one Bollywood film - Shortcut Safari in 2016. The film was earlier premiered at The National Children’s Film Festival (NCFF) on November 15, 2014. He also produced the film. Sau Jhooth Ek Sach and The Good Road are his other production ventures. Currently he is planning to do a Bengali film with superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee playing the lead role.

The Good Road was Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, beating the much appreciated Bollywood movie - The Lunchbox. The movie was directed by debutant director Gyan Correa. It’s the first Gujarati film to receive this recognition. The film starring Sonali Kulkarni and Ajay Gehi received National award for best Gujarati film. Amitabha co-scripted and did the camera work of the film.

He is a graduate of the prestigious FTII, Pune. He graduated in the year 1994. He started his professional career by shooting ads before moving to films. As a cinematographer he has worked for critically acclaimed movies like “The Good Road”, “Chillar Party”, “Yahaan” and “Khosla Ka Ghosla”. MP3 - Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar, Thodi Life Thoda Magic, Yeh Faasley, Aagey Se Right and De Thali are a few more works as a cinematographer. He made his directorial debut with “Shortcut Safari” starring Jimmy Shergil and seven talented child artists. The movie had a theater release in 2016. The film with a good social message was well appreciated by critics and the movie was shown at Children’s film festivals too.
