Amit Phalke Biography

Amit Phalke is an Indian actor who has been associated with films, television and theater. He started his acting career as a child artist during 1980’s and has won National award for best child artist in 1992 for the Hindi movie, Mujhse Dosti Karoge. Phalke played the role of young Riyaz in Shyam Benegal's National award winning ‘Mammo’ in 1995 which earned him Queens Child Guidance Centre Film Festival International Award. After that he has done a few supporting roles in films like Kareeb. In 1986, he won Maharashtra State Award as the Best Child Actor in Theatre for the Play Mothe Jhale Chhote.

 

Amit was born in Pune in 1979. He started his acting career through Marathi plays at the age of 7. ‘Mothe Jhale Chhote’ was his first play and it earned him an award as well. Later he portrayed child roles in Marathi plays like Sobat Tujhi Majhi, Life Partners, Ek Hota Jungle, Sobat Tujhi Majhi etc. Later he joined Theatre Academy and worked for the plays, Sequence, Mahanirvan and Safar.  He also performed for National School Of Drama Repository as a child artist. It was during this time when he was spotted by director Gopi Desai, who offered him the role for the movie, Mujhse dosti Karoge in 1992. His performance earned him National award for best child artist. With the late 1990’s, he started accepting teenager roles and he played Bobby Deol’s friend in 1998 movie, Kareeb.

 

He started his own production house in the year 2000 which produced corporate films and also organized events. He joined ZEE Network in 2007 and got associated with Regional Film Channel named Zee Talkies. He has also directed a few shows.
