Alphonsa (actress) Biography

Alphonsa is a south Indian film actress and an item girl. She regularly appeared in numerous songs throughout 2000s and has also played a few vamp roles onscreen. She is the elder sibling of noted choreographer cum film actor, Robert. In 2012, she and her brother had to face some legal troubles following the death of her boyfriend Vinod Kumar. Though separated she was not legally divorced from her ex-husband and she was in a live-in relationship with the upcoming actor Vijay. Vijay hanged himself in their apartment and it landed Alphonsa to troubles. However she gave statement that it was his failure in film career and the delayed projects which prompted him to take such a hasty and depressed decision in his life.

Alphonsa was born and brought up in Chennai and landed into movies with the mid 1990s. Panchathanthiram (2002) was one of her earliest noted appearances where she got opportunity to act with the legendary Indian actor, Kamal hassan. But it was through item songs which made her a star. She has been the top item girl of Tamil movies in the 2000s and she has been a seasoned actress as well. Cheran Chozhan Pandian, Thaayin Manikodi, Periya Manushan, Sivan, Pudhayal and Subhakankshalu are a few of her special appearances.

She was married and had a daughter from her first marriage. Before completing the legal procedure, she lived with an upcoming actor Vinod. Her daughter was 8 year old then and they lived together for 2 years till his death. Vinod committed suicide in 2012 by hanging himself in Alphonsa’s flat. Vinod’s family members accused Aphonsa and her brother being responsible for his death. They also filed the case stating, something suspicious. Soon after seeing died Vinod, Alphonsa too consumed sleeping pills. She got saved later.
