Akanksha Puri Biography

Akanksha Puri is an Indian film actress who works in south Indian films and Bollywood. She played the lead role of Nandita Menon, from Hyderabad in Madhur Bhandarkar’s fashion oriented film – Calendar Girls in 2015. Prior to her entry to Bollywood, she has been associated with south Indian film industry since 2013 who marked her film debut with Tamil film, Alex Pandian. She has acted in Malayalam films - Praise the Lord and Amar Akbar Anthony in supporting roles and the female lead Saira in Samrajyam II: Son of Alexander. She made her film debut to Kannada films in 2015 with the film – Lodde, where she played female lead opposite Komal Kumar. She was also seen in 2014 Tamil film Tihar.

She belongs to Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, born in 1988. She started her career as an air hostess and later pursued modelling as a hobby. Then she decided to join film line and started off with Tamil films - Alex Pandian (2013) and Tihar (2014). Similar to her debut Bollywood flick which tells the story of struggling models, Akanksha too had a struggle period in modelling during her initial days. Later she was seen in many ads of jewellery and ethnic wear. Her parents have been supporting during all her transitions – from an air hostess to a model and actress. In fact her mother used to give her good tips to follow to keep herself healthy and slim.

In 2015, she made her Bollywood entry with the much anticipated film of with Madhur Bhandarkar’s fashion oriented film - Calendar Girls, which received high positive reviews from critics. She played one among the 5 leading ladies of the film, aside Avani Modi, Kyra Dutt, Ruhi Singh and Satarupa Pyne. In fact she was the leading lady Nandita Menon of the movie and it’s rumoured to be loosely based on the life of successful model cum actress – Shilpa Shetty.
