Aditya Sarpotdar Biography

Aditya Sarpotdar is a cine personality associated with Marathi film industry. He is a film director and costume designer best known for his blockbuster film Classmates, remake of Malayalam blockbuster campus film with the same name released in 2006. He started his career as a director with Uladhaal in 2008 starring Ankush Choudhary and Subodh Bhave, and later directed four Marathi films and one Bollywood film - Thodi Thodi Si Manmaaniyan in 2017. Faster Fene (2017), Narbachi Wadi (2013) and Satrangi Re (2012) are his other directorial ventures in Marathi cinema. He is the son of Marathi filmmaker Vishwas Sarpotdar and the son of Ajay Sarpotdar.

Aditya Sarpotdar hails from Maharashtra, into a family linked with cinema and administration. He is the grandson of legendary filmmaker Vishwas Sarpotdar and the son of Ajay Sarpotdar former president of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal. His father passed away in 2010. His grandfather had produced 8 blockbuster Marathi films, and also served as a member of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal, the apex Marathi film body.

Aditya set his camera rolling at a young age of 17, when he started off with documentaries and short films. Then he shot to fame with his directorial debut, Uladhaal released in 2008. Since then he is associated with Marathi cinema. Though he has directed only a few Marathi films since then, most of them emerged as box office hits. Following the path of his grandfather and father who played a great role in reviving Marathi film industry and producing several hit films, Aditya too followed the same suit. His second film Satrangi Re in 2012 got recognized for its music and theme.
