Aahana Kumra Biography

Aahana Kumra is a film and television actress associated with Hindi entertainment industry. She made her small screen debut in Sony Entertainment Television's Yudh with Amitabh Bachchan, which made her indeed popular. A quite popular name on small screen, she also played female lead in the very popular TV series Agent Raghav - Crime Branch aside Sharad Kelkar. Mostly associated with short films and television series, she received big break to Bollywood screen through Alankrita Shrivastava’s much talked and controversial film, Lipstick Under My Burkha, where she played one among four protagonists. Her role as a beautician Leela is a part of woman-centric film which urges on woman’s freedom.

The movie Lipstick Under My Burkha which included an ensemble star cast of Ratna Pathak, Konkona Sen Sharma, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur in key roles and Sushant Singh, Vikrant Massey, Shashank Arora, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi and Jagat Singh Solanki in supportive roles, was showcased at several international film festivals received rave reviews from critics and was a box office hit.  The film shown at various film festivals in 2016, faced obstacles from sensor board, and finally got theatric release in 2017.

Aahana Kumra was born and brought up in Lucknow. Since young she was inclined towards acting. She joined theatre right from her childhood days, and also completed graduation course in acting from Whistling Woods international school of acting. After that she started her professional career with ad films and short films, and then moved to television where she succeeded. Apart from Yudh and Agent Raghav - Crime Branch, she was also seen in the web series, Official Chukyagiri, Tulu movie Kudla Café and several short films. Sona Spa was her debut Hindi film, which went unnoticed. She played female lead in the film.
