Gour Kishore Ghosh Biography 
Gour Kishore Ghosh was a famous writer and journalist from Bengal. He was a recipient of numerous literal awards including Ananda Purashkar for Literature (1970), Ko Joy Uk Memorial award (1976), from the South Korean Government, the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award (1981) for Journalism, Literature and Arts, Maharashtra Government Award (1981), Bankim Puraskar (1982), Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Award (1993) and many more. His major works include - Aamra Jekhaney, Sagina Mahato, Prem ney, Ei Kolkatay, Mon Maney Na, Jol Porey Pata Norey and Poschimbongo Ek Promod Toroni, Ha ha!
Gour was born in Hat Gopalpur village of undivided Bengal in 1923. His village now belongs to Jessore District of Bangladesh. He completed his intermediate studies in 1945. Born into a poor family, he couldn’t continue his studies because of financial troubles and started his professional career. He tried different jobs to earn a living. He did the odd jobs of waiter, electrician, clerk, sailor and even the job of a tuition teacher. He joined a new daily newspaper, Satyayuga in a clerical post which marked his career as a journalist and reporter.
He has worked with many major publications of Bengal including literary weekly Desh, Anandabazar Patrika daily etc, where he wrote many popular columns. He became the senior editor of Anandabazar Patrika. News Commentary by Rupadarshi was his satire take on agony of West Bengal during naxalite movement. Later he wrote many columns and other forms of works under the pen name – Rupadarshi. He was arrested and jailed during Emergency period for his protest through writings. He was reinstated as a senior editor of Ananda Bazar Patrika after the emergency period. He later started a daily, Aajkaal and served as its editor too. Majority of his works were included in non-fiction category.
