Vinod Dua Biography

Vinod Dua is an anchor, producer, political commentator and election analyst. He is a well known person in Indian media. He is seen in the Indian televisions since 1974. He is associated with the transition of television from a government controlled single channel entity to the present day transnational multichannel satellite TV industry. He received Padma Shri award for his contributions to journalism in 2008.

He was born on 11th March 1954 in New Delhi. He was brought up in the refugee colonies of Delhi. He finished his degree in English literature in Hans Raj College and obtained Masters’ degree in literature in University of Delhi. During his school days he was a singer and debater. He wrote two plays for children and these were performed by the Sutradhar Puppet Theater of Sri Ram Center for Art and Culture. He was a member of Theatre Union and performed plays against social problems like dowry.

He appeared on television on November 27, 1974 in the Hindi youth program of Doordarshan, Yuva Manch. For the youth of Raipur, Muzaffarpur and Jaipur, he anchored the Yuv Jan program for Satellite Instructional Television Experiment telecast in 1975. Then he continued to anchor many youth programs in these channels until 1980. In 1981 he started to anchor the Aap Ke Liye Sunday morning family magazine and continued this until 1984.

The year 1984 marked a turning point in his life. The election analysis program with Dr. Prannoy Roy made him a famous election analyst. He is seen in election analysis programs in many TV channels since then. In 1985, he anchored Janvani in which ministers were questioned by common people.
