Tulsi Ghat was named after the great Hindu poet Tulsidas who lived in 16th century. It is believed that Ramlila was staged for the first time at this place. The relics of Tulsidas such as the wooden clogs, pillow and the idol of Hanuman that he worshipped are preserved at this place. In 1941, Tulsi Ghat was renovated by the industrialist Baldeo Das Birla.
