In summer season the climate is very hot and reaches up to 46 degree Celsius. But monsoon rainfall occurs in between it making the climate tolerable. Getting sunstroke is common during this time and so it is not good for outdoor activities. Evenings are comparatively pleasant and the days are warm with blue skies. Hot and dry wind called Loo that blows in summer makes it hotter.

Varanasi has a mild winter season and the in the month of January climate becomes more chilly. The cold waves from the Himalayan region makes the temperatures drop to as much as 5 degree Celsius. The days are warm but the nights are very cold. Fog is very common in winter season and it screens the vision making it tough to drive.
