Sarnath is the deer park where the Dharma was first taught by Gautama Buddha. This is the birth place of Shreyansanath, the eleventh Tirthankara of Jainism and there is a temple here devoted to him. So it is an important pilgrimage site of Jain people. People from various world countries like Thailand, Tibet, Japan, Sri Lanka and Myanmar visit this place as it has religious importance.
