Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary was established in the year 1976 and spreads over an area of 245 square kilometers. It is noted for its unique wildlife and lush green forests. The area covers the tropical dry deciduous forest with trees and plants such as semal, mahua, ber, tendu, teak, sal and bamboo. Some fo the anials found here are flying squirrel, jackals, four horned antelopes, chinkara, tiger, sloth bear, monkey, porcupine, bison, wild dogs, sambar, nilgai, gaur and birds like parrots, bulbul, vultures, lesser kestrels, peafowl, wood pecker, egrets and herons.
