Rashtrapati Bhavan is the official residence of the President of India. It is located in the Raisina Hill in New Delhi. The construction of this building took 19 long years to complete and it was opened by Lord Irwin on 23rd January 1931.

 

It has four floors and 360 rooms built over an area of 200,000 square feet. The building has several chattris on its top. There are many courtyards and has two wings, one for the president and the other one for the guests. The residence wing has four storey house within it. There is a Durbar Hall under the main dome and it has a huge 2 ton chandelier.

 

At the back of the Rashtrapati Bhavan is the Mughal Gardens with wide variety of flower bearing plants. Every February, the public is allowed to visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens.
