Mysore Railway Museum was established by Indian Railways in 1979. This has a gallery of photographs related to Indian Railways and has locomotives of various types. It also has the paintings that show the growth of railways in the country. A joy of kids is the mini battery operated train that offers short ride within.
Some of the important exhibits are Austin rail motor car, royal coaches of Maharaja of Mysore, Maharani Saloon carriage with kitchen, dining car unit and royal toilet of 1899 and many others. There is a 1925 model Austin car displayed here. Wagnell 119-ER was the narrow gauge steam engine built in 1900 which used wood for generating steam.
