1. If you want to do some shopping then the ideal items to be purchased are Mysore silk sarees, sandalwood and sandalwood oil or scent, incense sticks, Chenapatna dolls and wooden toys, traditional deck of playing cards and handicrafts items.

 

2. There are many museums in Mysore namely National Museum of Natural History, Folk Art Museum, Rail Museum, Oriental Research Institute and Melody World. Spend one day for exploring all of these museums. They are sure to take you to historic times.

 

3. If you plan your travel during Dasara festival then you can take part in the 10 day festival that is celebrated during September and October months. Taking part in the Dasara procession will take you to the times of Wodeyars. The Goddess Chamundi taken on golden howdah on an elephant is a real visual treat.

 

 

4. Walking along the foot of Chamundi Hills and climbing it along its steps in the early morning will give you some good exercises. You can get the glimpses of the city when you reach the top.

 

5. Strolling along the Kukkarahalli Lake or Karanji Lake and checking out the butterfly park there will give you a unique adventure.

 

6. If you are interested in go carting, bowling alleys and other adventure sports then the right place to check out is Planet X. There is no entrance charge here but you need to pay for the rides.

 

7. Relish the favorite sweet of Mysore named Mysore Pak made of gram, sugar and ghee.

 

8. Enjoy the popular dishes of Mysore namely Mysore Masala Doa, Bisibela Baath, Raagi and Akki Rotis, Raagi Mudde, Idli Sambar, Masala Poori, etc.
