Mysore Palace is situated in the heart of the Mysore city and this was the royal residence of the Wodeyars of Mysore. The palace has two durbar halls and was first built in 14th century. Then it was demolished and rebuilt a number of times and the construction of the present palace was started in 1897 and completed in 1912. Later in 1940, it was extended.
About 2.7 million people visit Mysore Palace every year. Another palace was built within the complex by Maharani Vani Vilas Sannidhana in 1912. The palace is built on Indo-Saracenic style and also has some features of Rajput, Mughal and Gothic style of architectures. There are many unique rooms within namely Ambavilasa, Gombe Thotti and Kalyana Mandapa and there is a big garden around the palace. The complex also includes twelve Hindu temples. The Audience Chamber, Public Durbar, Royal Wedding Hall and Armory are some of the attractions.
