Jayalakshmi Vilas Palace is situated on the hillock on the western side of Kukkarahalli Kere Lake. There is a museum within this palace with many rare collections. This mansion was built in 1905 during the time period of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV for the elder daughter of Maharaja Chamaraja Wodeyar, Jayalakshmi Ammani. This was formerly known as the First Rajkumari Mansion.

 

The mansion was renovated in 2002 and completed in 2006 and after the renovation it consists of 125 rooms with 300 windows and 287 beautiful and ornamental doors. The whole structure spreads over an area of 6 acres of land. Brick, mortar, timber and iron were used to build this.
