Kukrail Reserve Forest is the breeding ground of crocodiles. When the crocodile population decreased very much in 1975, efforts were made to conserve them. Only 300 were left during that time and so their eggs were collected from the Ramganga River, Suheli River, Girwa River and Chambal River banks and artificial hatching centre was established. They were fed and after they were grown enough to defend themselves, they were left in the waters of these rivers. This is one of the successful wildlife conservation programs in the country.
