Local Transportation in Leh

The public transportation in Leh is offered by buses. There are various areas covered by buses such as Takthog, Chemrey, Stakna, Thiksey and Shey. These buses offer a daytrip to these places. Most people go for cars and taxis. The hotels themselves arrange for them. If you are able to spend more on them, then you can visit places like Khardong La, Pangong and Stok Palace.

If you want to visit places like Lamayuru, Alchi and Likir in one day, then that might not be possible with public transportation system. In this case, you may need to hire a car. If you are lucky you can share it with other people in a big car like Innova.

If you want to explore only Leh, then it is small enough to walk. You can reach most of the places by walking and the only exception is airport located at a distance.
