Zorawar Fort is situated in Ladakh region and was built by Gen Zorawar Singh in 19th century. He has built many small forts in this place and they all have strategic importance and known for their architecture. He used marcullak clay, sun dried bricks, wood and stone to build this fort in April 1836 and this spreads over an area of 27.17 acres of land. He also built a mosque and a temple here. The fort has a big moat all around that varies about 3 to 5 meters in depth. A wooden bridge is built to enter into the fort. This fortress is one of the symbols of heritage of Ladakh region.

 

The fort is under the control of Indian army and they have established two galleries here which consist of dresses, mementos and other things of the royal family. The exploits of Zorawar Singh is placed here.
