Stok Palace was built in 1825 by king Tsespal Tondup Namgyal and serves as the residence of the royal family of Ladakh. At present there is a museum and monastery here. This museum consists of the remnants of the shrines and royal family such as crown, jewelry, ceremonial dresses, etc. Stok Monastery was founded by Lame Lhawang Lotus in 14th century and is famous for its library and dance mask festival that is conducted every year.
