Shanti Stupa is located on the top of the hill in Chanspa in Leh. It was established by Japanese Buddhist named Bhikshu Gyomyo Nakamura in 1991. This stupa houses the relics of Buddha which had been enshrined by the 14th Dalai Lama. This place not only has the religious importance but also loved for its beauty that it offers panoramic views of the surrounding places.

The aim of building this stupa was to reestablish Buddhism in India and the construction started in April 1983 and was inaugurated in August 1991. The photographs of the Dalai Lama were seen in this stupa. The golden image of Buddha is perched on a platform that portrays the turning wheel of Dharma. This structure was built to commemorate the 2500 years of Buddhism. The sunrise and sunset views here are very beautiful and at night this stupa is illuminated with lights.
