Leh Palace resembles the Potala Palace in Lhasa in Tibet and this palace was built by Sengge Namgyal king in 17th century. When Dogra forces attached Leh in 19th century, this palace was abandoned and the king and his family moved to Stok Palace.

Leh Palace has nine stories and the top floors were used as residential building while the lower floors were used for storing things and as stables. The palace was in ruins and the archaeological survey of India restored this palace. From the roof of this palace you can get the panoramic view of the surrounding areas. There is a museum in this palace and here you can find the richest collection of jewelry, ornaments, crowns and ceremonial dresses and paintings that are more than 450 years old. The pleasing colors that were said to have obtained by crushing and powdering the gems and stones are the attractive features.
