Basgo Monastery is the Buddhist monastery that is situated near Leh. This was actually a residential building built for the Namgyal rulers in the year 1680. Later it was turned into a political and cultural center and this monastery is located on the top over the ruins of the ancient town. This gompa is famous for its Buddha statue and murals.
