Jammu has a humid subtropical climate and has extreme summer highs that shoot up to 46 degree Celsius. Bu the winters are very cold and freezing. It has four seasons, summer, winter, autumn and monsoon.

Jammu Climate in Summer Season

 

The summer in Jammu lasts from March to May and the climate is hot during day time with warm nights. The green valleys and meadows are beautiful to look at and there will be no snowfall during summer. April is moderately hot and it turns very hot in May with plenty of sunshine. The sky is clear but the hot climates decreases the tourist activities.

 

 

Jammu Climate in Winter Season

 

The winter season lasts from November to February and has freezing cold temperature. The record low is -3 degree Celsius and the lowest average temperature is 7 degree Celsius. January is the coldest month. Snowfalls occur during these months and dense smog covers the city screening the vision. So this time is difficult for tourists but still those who are from plains and who want to enjoy the snowfall visit the city during this time.

 

Jammu Climate in Monsoon Season

 

The average annual rainfall of Jammu is 1331 mm and most of them are received during the month of July and August. The rainfall continues in September also but the city gets minimum amount of rainfall all round the year. In monsoon season, the downpour is accompanied with thunderstorms.

 

 

Jammu Climate in Autumn Season

 

In the autumn months of September to November rainfall decreases considerably and temperature starts dropping. The meadows shine in the golden light of the sun and the city wears a brown look. There is no snowfall in lower altitudes. Tourist activities start to show up after monsoon season and various cultural events are conducted at this time. In short the city is full of life in autumn.
