Mubarak Mandi is the royal residence of Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir belonging to Dogra Dynasty. It served as the main residence of the king until he moved to the Hari Niwas Palace in 1925. The palace is located on the banks of the River Tawi. The oldest building of the complex belongs to 1824 and other structures were built in various times over a period of 150 years.

The palace is built of Rajasthani and European style with a blend of Mughal architectural elegance. There are many courtyards and the Dogra Art Museum is located in the Pink Hall of the palace that houses the miniature paintings of Kangra, Jammu and Basohili schools. The gold painted bow and arrow of Emperor Shah Jahan is also placed here.

The Gol Ghar section overlooking the River Tawi was destroyed in the earthquake of 1980s and was left in ruins. This palace has been declared by the state government as the heritage site.
