The Martland Sun Temple is dedicated to the Sun God Surya and is located near Anantnag in Kshmir. It was built between 725 and 756 AD by Lalitaditya Muktapida, the King of Karkota dynasty. However it was destroyed by Sikandar Butshikan in 15^th century and was reconstructed later on. It is located on a plateau from where you can see the entire valley of Kashmir. This temple is a fine example for the Kashmir style of architecture and is one of the important archaeological sites of the nation.
