Akhnoor is a beautiful town located in the foothills of Himalayas close to Jammu on the banks of the River Chenab. It was formerly called Virat Nagar and there is a story that since it cured the vision problem of the Mughal Emperor, it was renamed as Aankhon Ka Noor meaning the Vision of Eyes which later was changed to Akhnoor over time. There are some caves here and the temple of Parashurama worth visiting. From Jiya Pota Ghat to Parashurama Temple lies the beautiful park which looks like the glittering necklace in the evening times with illumination.
