Rathombore National Park was established in 1955 by the Government of India and was initially called the Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary. This sanctuary is well known for its tigers. It has large tiger population that they are found during day time itself. Other animals in the Rathombore National Park are leopard, nilgai, dhole, wild boar, sambar, hyena and chital.

 

The park is also rich in flora. It has one of the biggest banyan trees in India. Safari rides are offered at 6.30 A.M. and 2.30 P.M. The best time to visit the place is from November to May.
