Golconda has four forts which has an outer wall of 10 kilometers and has 87 semicircular bastions and eight gateways. It has many halls, mosques, stables and apartments within it and has an enclosure called Fateh Darwaza named after the triumphant army march of Aurangazeb. The Golconda Fort complex spreads over an area of 11 kilometers and here you can enjoy the architectural beauty of the pavilions, gates, domes and entrances.

 

The main entrance of the fort is called Bala Hissar Gate and is located on the eastern side. On the top of the door is carved the peacocks with ornate tails and the design of peacock and lion is the blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. The Toli Masjid is situated near this fort at a distance of about 2 kilometers.

 

The fort houses the tombs of the Qutb Shahi kings. These tombs are beautifully carved out of stones and are surrounded by landscaped gardens. The fort has huge gates that are decorated with large pointed iron spikes which are meant to prevent elephants from damaging the fort. There is Naya Qila or New Fort found on its opposite which is an extension of
