MGR Film City was established in 1994 by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the memory of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and famous film artist M. G. Ramachandran. This spreads over an area of 70 acres of land and is a famous tourist spot having replicas of villages, mosques, post office, police station, courtroom and many gardens such as Italian garden Japanese garden and Mughal gardens. A film school is functioning within its premises. The MGR Knowledge Park is added to it recently. It is opened to public from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M.
