Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum was established in Bangalore in 1962 in the memory of the scientist Sir M. Visvesvaraya who lived from 1861 to 1962. It is situated on the Kasthurba Road near Cubbon Park. The museum has many interactive exhibits and is a science center that helps in the learning of the people.

 

The museum is situated in a building of about 40,000 square feet and has many galleries. It is opened on all days from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. except on Ganesha Chathurthi and Deepavali. The museum has two exhibits, Dinosaur Corner and Wright Brother’s Aeroplane and has seven exhibition halls namely Engine Hall, Electrotechnic Hall, Fun Science Hall, Space Technology Hall, Biotehnological Revolution Hall, Hall of Electronics and Science for Children Hall.

 

Various shows and activities are organized for the visitors namely Taramandal Show, Science Demonstration Show, Sky Observation Program, Popular Science Lecture and Commemorative Program.

 

Some of the activities conducted for teachers and students are Teacher’s Training Program, Southern India Science Fair, Science Drama Competition, Science Quiz Contest, Creative Ability Center and Students Science Seminar.

 

Entrance fee of Rs. 20 is collected and there are various membership schemes and the members are allowed free entry all round the year.
