The Government Aquarium in Bangalore is situated on the Kasturba Road near the Cubbon Park. It is housed in an octagonal shaped building and was established in the year 1983. It is under the control of the Depart of Fisheries of the State Government.

This is the second largest aquarium in India and there are exotic varieties of fishes kept in natural habitat settings. There are over 70 varieties of fishes, angel fish, blue gourami, Indian tiger barb, freshwater prawns, Siamese fighters, masher, red tail shark, Serpant Treta and stripped Loach to name a few.

This is a three storied building that has a laboratory and an office in the ground floor. In the first floor there are fourteen big tanks having cultivable varieties of fish. On the second and third floor there are two rows of water tanks, the upper row having 23 medium sized tanks and the lower row having 46 small sized tanks. There is a small outlet to sell the fishes to those who want to grow them at their homes.
