Parade Grounds, M.G. Road, Bangalore

Cariappa Memorial Park is located on the Parade Grounds between M.G. Road and Cubbon Park. It was established in 1996 and dedicated to the Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa who served in the Indian army.

 

The games provided here are in military style to improve the physical and mental skills of the children. There is a 7 feet high monolithic sculpture of General Cariappa. There are six military bands that perform every fortnight.

 

The Burma bridge, tarzan swing, spider webs and balance bars are some of the attractions in the play area. The 1.8 km long cobble stoned pavement is a good place for walking. There are about 3000 species of plants here and they are maintained in eco-friendly way without the use of insecticides or pesticides. This is a wonderful weekend retreat.
