The Tomb of Salim Chishti was built in 1580 and 1581 in Fatehpur Sikri built by Mughal Emperor Akbar. It is situated within the complex of Jama Masjid. Within this structure is the place of burial of the Sufi saint Salim Chishti who lived between 1478 and 1572.

 

The tomb was built on one meter high platform with five steps. The plinth is made up of colorful mosaics and the door to the main chamber has inscriptions from Quran. The tomb has white marble floor with multicolored stones. There is a common belief that tying the thread on the screens will fulfill one’s wishes.
