Different Modes of Transportation in Agra

 

There are various modes of transport within Agra such as taxi, cab, auto rickshaw and cycle rickshaw. Prepaid taxis and metered autos are available for excursions around the city. If you are planning for one day visit at Agra on your way to other destinations, you can keep your luggage in the clock room of the railway station and enjoy your day seeing Taj Mahal and other important places and return to board the train.

 

You can hire bicycles in Agra on hourly basis and ride through the city. You cannot get near Taj area in petrol or diesel vehicles. This is to protect Taj Mahal from the pollution caused by these vehicles. However battery operated buses and rickshaws are available. You can find the horse driven tongas and camel carts here which will give you unique experience. The cycle rickshaws are one of the modes of transporation in Agra. This is a slow means of transport but cheaper one. There are also motorcycle rickshaws which are modernized form of cycle rickshaws operated by motor and fuelled by petrol.

 

If you want to have a walk in the city then the best place is Mall Road and here you can find the street full of handicraft and leather items. There are many roadside food stalls where you can relish the native cuisine of the place.
