Zero Babu Biography 
Zero Babu is an Indian playback singer and musician associated with Malayalam cinema. He has also acted in a few movies. He was most active in the golden era of Malayalam music, where he got opportunity to work with Devarajan, and many leading composers of the era. While everyone wants to add ‘hero’ tag to his name, he uses ‘Zero’ surname along with his name. He did playback singing for more than 90 Malayalam films, which includes over a hundred songs. He composed songs for Marakkilorikkalum and Kurukkante Kalyaanam in the 1980s. With age 70+, he is still active with stage shows as a singer.
Since young he was interested in singing. If he likes a song, he used to sing it repeatedly during his childhood days. He also loves to recite poems at school. He started off his career with live performances known as ‘Ganamela’. He used the name Master Babu then. He was active in music circle with light music and film songs, and he used to sing in female voice too. He was associated with a local club, Kairali Kala Samathi where he used to sing hit songs of Lata Mangeshkar. Once the troupe arranged a stage play, and Babu played a female’s role. The play was inaugurated by Antony belonging to theatre and cine field.
Antony invited him to his theater troupe and he joined it without any hesitation. Since then he got opportunity to work in many plays. His father was into hotel business, who was not interested in his son’s passion towards art and music. But he later supported his son seeing his real talent and passion. Started as a singer and actor in the 1960s, Zero Babu moved to music direction in the 1980s.
