Varijashree Venugopal Biography

Varijashree Venugopal is a young singer and flautist, based in Bangalore. ‘Mela raga malika’, ‘Bidiru’, ‘Kaayo enna gopala’, ‘Arpana’ and ‘Upasana’ are some of her released musical albums. She is also known for her live performances as a singer and musician. She received Best female vocalist for 'Darling darling' song from movie 'Madarangi' at Suvarna comedy awards 2014. In 2015 she received Mirchi music best vocalist award for song 'Enla boddade' from movie 'Rose'. She also received KiMA best vocalist 2014 in Television music for 'Kulavadhu'.

 

Varijashree Venugopal was born in Bangalore on 6 March 1991. She belongs to a family of music background. She is a child prodigy who was able to identify about 40 ragas at the age of 1.5 and about 200 ragas at the age of 4. As her parents spotted her talent they decided to encourage and develop her singing talents, and started her music lessons at the age of 4. Initially she was trained by her father, and later she was sent to other musicians for advanced learning. Now she is a disciple of Salem P. Sundaresan. She is learning flute from H. S. Venugopal for past 12 years.

 

She gave her first public performance at Bangalore Gayana Samaja at the age of 7. She is a singer of Quartet fusion band "Chakrafonics", based in Bangalore. This musical band also includes popular Kannada musician and composer Praveen D. Rao. Varijashree has performed at many places all over India and has been very much appreciated by critics and music lovers alike. Ananya Pratibhe, 2010 and Ananya Naadajyoti Yuva Puraskar, 2010 are among the musical rewards she received till now.
