Sreekumari Ramachandran Biography 
Sreekumari Ramachandran is a writer and accomplished singer from Kerala. She is a fictional writer best known for novels and short stories. She has also published books on music and also children’s literature too. She is a multifaceted personality, an orator, columnist and a trained classical dancer as well. Her English translation of Aithihyamala - a collection of legends from ancient Kerala, opens the doors of Kerala’s past to new generation readers. She is a recipient of Samskaara Sahiti Award – Contributions to Malayalam literature – 2010, Khasak Award for Pulachindu in 2011, Tatapuram Sukumaran Award for Vidhavakalude Graamam – 1999, Rotary Literary Award for Parithraanam – 1997 and many more.
Sreekumari Ramachandran, also called P. Sreekumari hails from Kochi, and was born in 1950. She has graduation in Economics and is a Visharad in Hindi language. She had an early marriage, and she lived a calm life of a homemaker for almost two decades before she started her literal journey. She started writing in 1988. She became a B-grade musician in All India Radio in 1992. After that she presented Sugam Sangeet and Bhakthi Sangeeth on A.I.R Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram Doordarshan. She is the Founder President of Indian Society of Authors (Kerala Chapter). She has also served as a jury member of several film award functions including Kerala State Film Award Committee, government of Kerala.
Sreekumari believes she is essentially a writer and not a translator, though she has carried both these works. Aithihyamala – based on old folklore and fairy tales of ancient Kerala was her first attempt at translation. She has authored 26 books both in English and Malayalam, mostly short-story collections. She is currently working on a historical encyclopaedia. She is also working on a film script.
