Zara Barring Biography

Zara Barring is a noted television actress and film producer of Punjabi origin, but settled in Canada. She is also a successful model and VJ. She has also appeared in a few Tamil and Bollywood films. She made her acting debut through Tamil film - Mayakkam Enna (2011), starring Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay in the lead roles. She was credited her real name, Soni Barring in this movie release. Later she got associated with a few short films, television films and daily soaps. Most recently she played the supporting role of Shazia in the popular Hindi television series - Razia Sultan. Zara has also written and produced short film The Essence of Mumbai.

She was born on 26 December 1988 to Punjabi parents settled Canada. Her father is a lawyer, who dreamt to join entertainment industry years ago. She was born in Victoria, British Columbia. She was raised in the beautiful city of Vancouver. Her family is settled in Canada since 1900s. Her ancestors belong to a small village, Barring in Jalandhar, Punjab. A successful model, she has modeled for many designers in Canada and India. She made her entry to Indian entertainment industry through the Tamil film, - Mayakkam Enna (2011) in a supporting role. She used her birth name Soni Barring for her debut film, which she changed later.

Currently she anchors a show called, “Locales: The Bollywood Travelogue” for Zing TV- UK (Zee International).  After featuring in a few Punjabi musical videos, she is to debut Punjabi film industry soon. She played the bubby elder sister in the historic series - Razia Sultan, lead roles played by Pankhuri Awasthy, Rohit Purohit and Sooraj Thapar. One of the new faces to Punjabi entertainment industry she is to debut Punjabi movies soon. Her hobbies include reading, listening music, cooking and writing poetry.
