Vinod E. R Biography 
Vinod E. R was a popular music composer associated with Punjabi and Hindi film music. His real name is Eric Roberts. He was quite successful in the eras of late 1940s and early 1950s. Lara Lappa Lara Lappa Lai Rakhda from the film Ek Thi Ladki (1949) is still remembered by music fans. This chartbuster duet was sung by Mohd Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar. Saari Raat Tera Tak Ni Aa Rah and Wey Tarian Taun Puchh Chann Wey are his popular Punjabi works. He died at a young age of 37. Three of his music albums were released posthumously. Amar Shaheed, Kamini, Mumtaz Mahal, Laadla, Ek Do Teen, Aag ka dariya, Anmol Ratan, Ek Thi Ladki, Khamosh Nigahen etc are his noted Hindi film works.
was born on 28 May 1922 in Lahore, Pakistan of British India. He was known in Mumbai film industry as Vinod. Since young he got attracted to the music played during Hindu weddings. He received training from a music composer, Pandit Amar Nath. He learnt the fundamentals of ragas and composing tunes on a violin from his guru. Vinod recorded his first song, Samne Aaeyga Koi Jalwa Dikhaey Ga Koi, at the age of 17. He started his career as a music composer for films in the year 1946, at the age of only 24. Khamosh Nigahen, Paraye Bas Mein, Kamini etc are some of his early works. The film Ek Thi Ladki (1949) was his first big break. The movie included the popular Punjabi song - Lara Lappa Lara Lappa Lai Rakhda.
After that he received numerous offers from both Punjabi and Hindi film industry. He was active in the film industry till his death on the Christmas day in 1959, aged only 37. He died penniless, despite being a great composer. He was survived by his wife and two daughters - Veena and Veera. He composed music for 30 Hindi films and 6 Punjabi films. Punjabi film Mutiar (1951) is regarded as his masterpiece.
