Vicky Dhaliwal Biography

Vicky Dhaliwal is a Punjabi lyricist and former Kabaddi player. He was a national level Kabaddi player before he called it quit following a shoulder injury. Dhaliwal was the defender in Circle-style Punjabi Kabaddi. Later he gained recognition writing songs for Punjabi pop and independent music. He shot to fame after penning the release of "Diamond" by Gurnam Bhullar in 2018, which became a huge chartbuster. "Rakhli Pyaar Nal", "Joban Rutte" etc are a few more hit songs of Vicky as a lyricist. He has also penned lyrics for hit songs of Gurjazz, Manjit Sahota, Miss Pooja and Jass Bajwa.

 

His real name is Tarandeep Singh Dhaliwal and he was born on July 27, 1988. Rasoli, a village near Pattran in Punjab is his native place. He stayed with his maternal relatives during his childhood days and completed his schooling from Kamalpur Kaleke at a local school. Later he completed his graduation from a college near his home. He was into sports, especially Kabadi during his younger days and represented state and national level. He had a shoulder injury and it took a lot of time for heal, which forced him to leave the field.

 

During his active years in Kabbadi, he used to write songs, though never took it serious. He also never recorded songs during his active sports years. He used to listen to old and classical Punjabi lyricists and poets since young. He got deeply inspired from iconic Punjabi writers like Shiv Kumar Batalvi, Bulle Shah, and also writers of present generation. Now his name is counted among the best lyricists of Punjabi music, and he also pens lyrics for Punjabi songs. His songs for Gurnam Bhullar are extremely popular.
