Usha Nadkarni Biography

Usha Nadkarni is a popular television and Bollywood actress known for character roles. Television serial, Pavitra Rishta in which she played the role of Savita Deshmukh made her a household name. She is a native of Karnataka and at present resides in Mumbai. She works in Hindi as well as Marathi movies. Gundaraj, One Two Three, Tu chor mein sipayi, Vastav, Hathyar, Yashwant, Narasimha, Krishna Cottage and Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar are a few of her noted Bollywood movies. She played the role of Mahima’s mother in Priyadarshan’s Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar, remake of Malayalam hit, Sanmanasullavarkku samaadhanam.

Her popular Marathi films include – Deool, Sakhi, Agadbam and Maherchi Sadi. Her role in popular television show, Pavitra Rishta earned her numerous awards for best negative performance at several television award functions. During the period 2009-2012, she received numerous awards at different years including Zee Rishtey awards, BIG Television Awards, Zee Gold awards and The Global Indian Film and Television Honours. She has been in the field of acting for the past 40 years or so. She was born on September 13, 1946 in Karnataka.

Usha began her career with Marathi theatre and entered at the competitive level with INT's play 'Guru'. She got an opportunity to perform in Nana Patelar’s famous play 'Purush'. Then she appeared in movies in character roles. She has also worked with BMC for few years and then with Dena Bank for over 20 years before taking voluntary retirement. Usha Nadkarni shot to instant fame with two popular television shows - Shantabai in 'Kuch Iss Tarah' and Savita Damodar Deshmukh in 'Pavitra Rishta'. She has also acted in television soaps – Rishtey, Kuch is tarah, Virudh, Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan and Madhubala – Ek ishq ek junoon. Currently she appears in Mrs. Pammi Pyarelal where she plays the role of Kamini Faujdar Dadi.
