T. V. Ramprasadh Biography

T. V. Ramprasadh is a Carnatic vocalist from Mumbai. He gave his first concert at the age of 11 and has conducted concert tours abroad in many countries like US, UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Singapore, Malaysia etc. He is an A-grade artist of All India radio, and has released music albums under different labels. He has trained students in India and other countries, and has also conducted numerous workshops and training programs to promote Carnatic music globally. He is also a recipient of numerous musical titles and honours such as Asthaana Vidwaan of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Kanchipuram, Gaanakala Vishaarada by Karnataka Cultural Association of Southern California, Los Angeles, Gana Kala Shree from the Karnataka Gana Kala Parishath and many more.

 

T. V. Ramprasadh, fondly addressed as TVR was born on 13 May 1969 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. While at Mumbai he received training in Carnatic music from Mahalakshmi Natrajan followed by Sharada Satyanarayana. He received advanced training from prominent gurus - P. S. Narayanaswamy, T. V. Gopalakrishnan and R.R. Keshavamurthy. He gave his first public performance at the age of 11. Gifted with a mellow, bass voice capable of a panoramic range, he has given so much patience and time, training under different gurus to reach a position where he right now.

 

His captivating voice, clarity in diction and the unique style have earned him a lot of fans in the past two decades or so. He is also known for establishing an instant rapport with listeners while he is performing on stage. His nicknames are Ram and Rampi. T. A. Vyasa Rao and Rukmini Rao are his parents. He has three elder sisters, and all are married and settled in Bangalore. His wife Indira Kadambi is his best critic and companion. They have one son – Vishnu. His teachers - P.S. Narayanaswamy and S.Rajam are his major influences.
