T. N. Seetharam Biography

T.  N. Seetharam is an actor, director and scriptwriter of Kannada cinema and television. His works are related to parallel cinema and often recorded as a cultural icon of Karnataka. His television serials are top rated and Mayamruga, Muktha and Manvantara are his award winning serials. He has a successful association with ETV Kannada. He has been associated with theatre also. He has been associated with top director, Puttanna Kanagal for whom Seetharam has written many hit film scripts. ‘Matadana’ directed by Seetharam won best regional film in the National award category. He has also served as Jury member of state awards and was the president of Karnataka State Film Awards jury for the year 2006. Apart from direction, he has also appeared as an actor in several movies.

 

His career started with television and he became successful at first, directing television serials for Doordarshan. Mayamruga – a daily soap gave him instant fame as a director. He directed Kamanabillu which was the first serial on a satellite TV to be widely viewed. His most successful ventures are with ETV Kannada and Manvantara and Muktha are among the best. Mukha Mukhi was the first serial aired on Doordarshan. He has also acted in a few television serials and he likes to appear in lawyer’s role. He was widely appreciated for his role as lawyer as well.

 

College Taranga, Jwalamukhi, Minchu and Maha Parva are his other noted television serials. He developed a concept of Samvada, a means of interaction with his audience. In 2005, he received Aryabhata Awards for 'Best Director' award for teleserial Muktha. Kraurya and Meera Madhava Raghava are his noted film screenplays and he has acted in movies like Beru and Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage.
