Surmukhi Raman Biography 
Surmukhi Raman is a singer from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She was earlier known as Suchithra Raman. She sings and writes song lyrics for Tamil movies, and is now a promising voice of Tamil film industry. She is a trained classical singer who is associated with live concerts and also has recorded a number of devotionals. She is also a live stage performer who has performed more than 2000 orchestras in India and abroad. In all the leading 4 south Indian language films, she has recorded more than 150 songs till now. Some of her popular songs are included in films - A Aa E Ee, Perumal, Manjal Veiyil, Thangam, Sanikizhamai Saayangalam 5 Mani, Irandu Mugam, Aasai etc.
She was born in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and brought up in Pune, Maharashtra. Her childhood days were spent in Pune, where she studied till 10th standard. Later she completed higher secondary studies and graduation from Chennai. Her family has musical roots, and her father S.V. Ramanan, is a semi classical singer, who has performed at AIR, Indore. Right from childhood she has been deeply influenced by her father, and following his footsteps she chose music as her profession.
Her playback singing career started in 2007 and she has spent more than 1 decade in the film industry. She predominantly sings in Tamil movies. Her name was changed Surmukhi Raman after the movie Modhi Vilayadu to avoid confusions with other singers with the same name. She has recorded songs with prominent music composers of the industry like Ilayaraja, A.R. Rahman, Hariharan,Bharadwaj, Vidhyasagar, Deva, Srikanth Deva, D. Imaan etc. She is equally involved with live performances. She has sung more than 500 devotional songs till now.
