Srilekha Parthasarathy Biography

Srilekha Parthasarathy, popularly called Srilekha is a well-established singer of Collywood. Srilekha started her professional career through jingles in 2000 and later moved to playback singing.  "Yedho Ondru" from the movie Laysa Laysa was her debut film song. The song was composed by "Yedho Ondru" from the movie Laysa Laysa.  "Kalyaanam dhaan" of Saamy, "Poo Mugam Siricha" of Junction, "Kaadhalaagi" of Popcorn, "Ayurvedha Azhagi" from Thiruda Thirudi, “Vecchikka Vecchikava” from M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, "Sutthi Sutthi Varuven" of Sena and "Don’t worry be Happy" of Whistle are her noted film tracks. She is married to playback singer, Sriram Parthasarathy of Ghajani (Suttum Vizhi Choodare) fame. Currently she appears in television series, Dharmayutham on Star Vijay television channel.

 
Srilekha was born and brought up in Delhi. But she is a south Indian by birth. For the same reason she learnt south Indian languages and music too. She learnt western music as well. She has been inspired by her maternal grandfather P.S. Varadhachari, a teacher by profession who researches on music. Her theatrical skills are not widely known. She has been the cultural secretary of the college music society and has attended workshops conducted by NSD. She performed with a professional theatre group too, where she played the role of Cleopatra and got good reviews for the performance. She also worked with a street theatre group. But very soon she switched on to singing as she identified herself and her path. Alter on she focused on her singing career.


She started her singing career through jingles and also did cover albums and wedding mehndi music. ‘Dhinanthorum Vaanguveer Idhayam’ – the ad pictured on Jyothika caught public attention so quick and she received her big break to Tamil film industry. Though Lesa Lesa took 3 long years to hit the screen, the song ‘Edho ondru, edho ondru’ marked her successful beginning in Collywood.
