Smita Bellur Biography 
Smita Bellur is a versatile Indian classical vocalist from North Karnataka who specializes in the field of Hindustani Classical Khayal and traditional Sufi music. She also performs in Ghazal, Thumri, Chaiti and other semi-classical and light genres of music. Till now she has made more than 350 public appearances. She also performs for funding charity programs and corporate events. She has been a senior faculty at the Shankar Mahadevan Academy before. She is a B-grade artist at AIR and Doordarshan and is regular with her musical performances for both. ‘Vachana Kirana’ – Shivasharana Vachana and ‘Kaisi Madhur Shyaam’ – Bhajan, Holi, Chaiti are her musical CDs released till now.
Smita Bellur hails from Karnataka, South India. She was born as the third child of K.L Subba Rao and K.S. Susheela Rao in North Karnataka. She completed her Engineering degree and also a master's degree MS (QM) from BITS Pilani, before she started working in the private sector with different companies. She has worked with leading IT firms like Oracle, SAP etc. But later she quit her professional career to pursue a career in music and dedicated her full time towards it. She trained classical and other forms of music under different gurus for many years. Her total submission to her art in soul and spirit makes her a renowned artist of present times.
Till now she has done independent music, playback for films as well as retro-hit film music shows. She also appears in private FM radio stations. She is a recipient of three awards in the field of music - Rotary Vocational Excellence Award 2010, ‘Sangeeta Shri 2007’ and ‘Dr. Puttaraj Gawai Krupa Bhushana Prashasti’. She owns three music albums to her credit.
