Siddharth Basrur Biography

Siddharth Basrur is a vocalist, composer and playback singer associated with Bollywood. He is also associated with Sandalwood. As a playback singer, he is best known for the songs, "Parwah Nahin" of M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story, Neend Na Mujhko Aaye of Shaandaar, Tera Nasha of Players, Naach Meri Jaan of ABCD 2, Baat Ban Jaye of A Gentleman, Mujhe De De Har Gham Tera and Jaaniya of Haunted – 3D etc. Basrur won the MTV VMAI in 2013, for Roots Song of the Year. He experiments with various kinds of music such as punk rock, indie rock, metal music etc. From web-based content developer, gadgets and gizmo reviewer to vocalist of Goddess Gagged and a songwriter, Basrur plays various roles with ease.

 

Siddharth Basrur was born in 1981. While doing first year college studies, he dropped out, as his work in a music store paid him more than his pocket money. Music deeply influenced him since childhood, as his father and uncles used to hear a lot of classic rock 'n’ roll. Siddharth used to listen to western music artists as well as Indian singers like Kishore Kumar, and by the age of 15, he got deeply interested in alternative rock. He loves artists like John Mayer and Ben Harper. Later he completed diploma in audio engineering from SAE, and also started a new music band named Goddess Gagged.

 

Basrur worked in the film industry doing audio post production for films, and also briefly worked as content writer for Channel V in 2008 before he called it quit to completely concentrating on to his musical journey. Basrur composed vocal melodies for the band Kinky Ski Munky in 2000. Chirantan, a friend of Basrur gave him the first break in jingles.
